Julie Verrekia, CPA

Julie Verrekia is the Firm’s Quality Control Director overseeing the firms quality control, peer reviews, and technical compliance.

Julie also performs quality control reviews. She has over 35 years of experience in accounting and auditing specializing in employee benefit plans.

Since 2007, Julie has been involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in the development and update of numerous employee benefit plan accounting and auditing publications and projects which includes the annual Employee Benefit Plan Audit Guide. She has authored numerous articles and has instructed webinars on employee benefit plan accounting and auditing topics. In 2016, Julie received the Advanced Defined Benefit Plans
Audit Certificate and the Advanced Defined Contribution Plans Audit Certificate from the AICPA and was a key contributor to the development of the associated examination and related courses.

Julie was appointed to the Employee Benefit Plans Committee of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in 2009 and is a frequent presenter at the annual PICPA
Employee Benefit Plans Conference.

Julie is a former Managing Director of the employee benefit plan practice in the Philadelphia office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Her responsibilities included serving Fortune 500 clients as well as major financial services firms. She also was responsible for employee benefit plan quality issues for the southeast region of PwC and was a key member of a team of national office employee benefit plan specialists who oversaw the development of practice aids and training for the entire firm. Julie also has experience with SSAE 18 engagements and audits of registered investment companies and similar investment funds.

Julie received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, summa cum laude, from Widener University. She is a certified public accountant in the States of Pennsylvania and Florida and is a
member of the AICPA and the PICPA.
